Many children's books are written to inspire young readers... most of all, to read. It is important for a child's book to be enjoyable; but children's books can also teach many of life's lessons. None is so, easily achieved when the main characters of a story are characters the child can relate to. One such character may be their beagle puppy dog. Of course, pre-school age children need a parent or another grown up to read to them. This is beneficial to both parent and child. The bonding that takes place while sitting on mother's lap and having a book about their favorite pet read aloud to them, is, in my opinion a true blessing in disquise. The time well spend creates loving memories that can not be denied. For example, when I look at a photo of my own child holding his first beagle it brings back all sorts of memories... I can even remember the time we spend reading books we enjoyed together. And, because I read books to my son at an early age, ... would you believe it... he was actually reading by the time he was 2 years old. Now, that's a memory I will never forget! The image seen here belongs to my own collection of photographs. I converted into a graphic so that I could display it on my web site. As you can see, we really do love beagles. Our children aslo love beagles. The one seen here was Shadow our very first beagle. We got him when our son was six and a half years old. It was a christmas present and one with lasting memories. The son in this photo is now in his late 30's and would you believe... he still loves beagles. Since his departure from our home, he has had three additional beagles. Shadow, the beagle seen here has long since passed on. But his memory lives on in both son and in all the other beagles we have raised. |
